TIGER - Tidal Test Procedure Reports
Files

Details
EMEC has developed four test procedure reports for the tidal sector, the details are below:
- Report 1- IEC/TS 62600:200 Gap Analysis and Feedback
The purpose of this first deliverable is to provide feedback on the IEC/TS 62600-200: Electricity producing tidal energy converters – Power performance assessment technical specification. The current specification is assessed by conducting a gap analysis on the
technical specification’s relevance for the present-day tidal sector, and where it is likely to be in the future. Areas which need further requirements or guidance are highlighted based on EMEC’s experience in using the technical specification in real world testing.
The key outputs are adaptions to provide clearer guidance and requirements for floating tidal energy converters.
- Report 2 – Test Procedure Report 2 IEC/TS62600-200 Feedback and Recommendations for Floating TEC Incident Resource Measurement for Power Performance Assessment
This report assesses any potential areas of improvement in the IEC/TS 62600-200: Electricity producing tidal energy converters – Power performance assessment technical specification when applied specifically to floating TEC’s, with a specific focus on the
incident resource measurement.
The output outlines a proposed guidance and recommendations for measuring the incident resource when assessing the performance of a floating TEC based on EMEC’s experience using the technical specification in practice.
- Report 3 – Recommendations for non-conventional tidal energy converters: resource measurement for power performance
The purpose of this deliverable will be to assess any areas of improvement in the IEC/TS 62600-200: Electricity producing tidal energy converters – Power performance assessment technical specification [1] when applied to non-conventional tidal energy
converters, particularly tidal kites, and specifically to the incident resource measurement required.
Recommendations have been made as how the performance of a non-conventional tidal energy converter might be measured and where further research may be required in order to develop a standardised test methodology
- Report 4 – Recommendations and lessons learnt for ADCP deployments
The purpose of this report is to make recommendations and document lessons learnt for Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler deployment campaigns based on EMEC’s experience. The recommendations focus specifically on campaigns at new tidal sites.
All reports are available in English and French.
