Driving cost reduction in marine energy through component testing

Deployment and operation of marine energy devices make up to over 40% of device costs. This work has identified two key routes to cost reduction:

  • Testing reduces the risk of failure or curtailment after deployment, reducing overall costs.
  • Adopting innovative mooring systems reduces loading expereinced by a moored device, further reducing failure risk.
